When do electrodes need to be conserved?

Preservation is necessary for any prolonged break in operation — for winterizing the pool, during system repairs, or when replacing reagents. Even a few days without a wet environment can damage the electrode's sensitive membrane and impair measurement accuracy or completely disable the probe.
How does preservation liquid differ from calibration solutions?

Calibration solutions (pH 4, pH 7, ORP 465 mV) are used to adjust the accuracy of the electrode before operation. The storage solution is intended exclusively for storage – it keeps the membrane moisturized and chemically neutral during downtime. One cannot be used in place of the other.
How to properly preserve an electrode?

Fill the protective electrode cap with storage solution and place it firmly over the probe. Make sure the membrane is fully immersed in the solution. Store the electrode upright in a cool, dry place at temperatures up to +25°C, away from direct sunlight.
